In 2008 there was a fire that took out the city sets and they asked for help on the rebuild from Steven Spielberg who suggested that some of the buildings be made taller so that filmmakers could get wider shots.
Fire Department, Police Station, and Doctor's Office
The area is so large that the studio has their own fire department, police station, and doctors office. There are even drivers in vehicles scattered throughout the lot in case of an emergency.
