Magical Express

Orlando International - MCO They really should rename this airport "Theme Park" or "Disney's Airport". If you are arriving and headed to the Magical Express, it is super easy. (as of 2022 this will end).

If you are flying Internationally, collect your baggage at the carousel

if you are flying domestically and you put the yellow baggage tags that were mailed to you on, onto your luggage, Disney has already collected it for you. If you did not do this, you'll have to collect your luggage.

Then head all the way downstairs. You'll be in the car rental area, ignore them and turn left, walk right by them (because they'll be on your right side - see what I did there...), all the way to the end of the hallway and *BAM* you've found the Magical Express. Make sure to have your reservation handy as they will check it and then tell you which line to join. If the line to get checked is long, do not jump into the bathroom right beside you as the line will move fast! (Yes, I have made this mistake...).

This free Magical Express (gossip is that it will stop running once the Brightline terminal is built as this connects the airport directly to DisneyWorld via train) coach runs quite quickly. Seats are plush and there is a video about the Disney park that runs on a loop for the roughly 20 - 45 min (depending on where your hotel is located & how many stops along the way) drive. Feel free to nap. It is just highway until you get to your hotel.

The nice thing about the bus is not only do you not need to drive or find locations but you also don't have to pay for parking. As of 2020, none of the Disney resorts allow for free parking for their resort guests so you'll have to pay a nightly rate that is similar to the daily rate park going guests pay.

When you are taking the Magical Express back to MCO, the coach will normally pick you up 3 hours prior to your flight due to the stops they need to make at the other hotels along the way plus any accidents that may be on the highway. If you are flying domestically then you can check in for your flight at the kiosks near the hotel's check in desk. If cannot get a late check out but are going to head into the park before the coach picks you up, the hotel will store your bags until you return.

Due to the Brightline Rail extension from Orlando Airport directly to Disneyworld, this service will end 1-Jan-2022.

The Skyliner

This gondola has been running through the park for a while now but has finally opened to the public. This mode of transportation runs from the Art of Animation, Pop Century, and Caribbean Beach to Epcot as well as Hollywood Studios. Gossip is that due to this new mode connecting the cheaper hotels directly to two parks, the bus service will be reduced and the cost of staying at these hotels will increase. Only time will tell!

Bus

Disney does a really good job of running buses from the resorts to the parks (as well as some internal resort buses). These buses run regularly and you can get the times in the MyDisney Ap as well as at the bus stop itself. Some of the resorts have buses that are shared by multiple resorts (Art of animation & Pop Century, Port Orleans Riverside & French Quarter) so they can fill up quick but if there are times when buses will be heavier (i.e. after the fireworks) then they will run buses directly to the resorts themselves instead of making stops along the way. If you are staying at a larger resort (Caribbean Beach, All Star) that have multiple buildings within the resort than the buses will stop at all the locations anyways.

Uber / Lyft - Minnie Van's

If you don't have time to wait for a bus, are going off property, or just don't want to take public transit then you can order an Uber or a Lyft within the park. Lyft also operates red mini-van's with white polka dots dubbed "Minnie Van's" within the resort that are driven by cast members. These are more expensive than a regular lift but they get you closer to the parks than regular Uber or Lyft but they only operate within the park so do not expect to take one to downtown Orlando.

Monorail

The original mode of transportation is the monorail. This connects the Magic Kingdom to the Contemporary and the Polynesian resorts as well as to the Ticket & Transportation center where you can switch monorails to go to Epcot. If you are using a wheelchair or a stroller, the ramps are very steep and there are not elevators so have fun with that... Clearly the 70's was not a time that they cared too much about people needing wheels to get around.

Boats

Depending on where you are going / where you are staying you may have access to a boat. For example, Port Orleans resorts are connected to Coronado Springs directly by boat so instead of trying to figure out the buses, just pop on down. They are on the water and Florida can get cold at night so the brisk breeze certainly wakes you up!

Walking

If you are willing to pay a bit more money, there are currently two resorts that you can walk to parks from (there has been a proposal submitted to add a third resort to this list but until it's hard facts, I'll leave it out). If you are staying at the Yacht & Beach Club then you can walk to Epcot or if you are at the Contemporary then you can walk to the Magic Kingdom.
