Cheap Eats

by Female Abroad

With a long, hot day in the sun it's nice to be able to pop in and grab a bite to eat or a drink somewhere. The only problem is that eating out can add up and quick especially if you are trapped on theme park property but have no fear, there are some ways around this! Below is a list of places that you tend to get more bang for your buck.

Outside the parks

Keep in mind that these restaurants are all different price points but sometimes paying more will get you larger portions that you can split so in the end, they will still usually be cheaper than eating in the park.

Here are a couple other random tips to help keep the cost down:

pack your own snacks

bring a refillable water bottle and ask for ice water at the quick service station

Order a kids meal regardless of your age or split an adult entrée between two kids

don't visit the parks during busy times as Disney increases the price of the food

every park has a fruit stand that sells pieces of fruit for under $2, cut up fruit cups for about $5

feel free to ask for things a la carte to save money if there is a side you don't want

Eat here, not there

Turkey Leg; buy it in Magic Kingdom not Hollywood Studio's and save $4

Clam Chowder; get it at Columbia Harbor House not Liberty Tree Tavern and save $3

Tonga Toast; get it by itself at Captain Cook's Snack Company instead of as an expensive side at the Kona Café

Zebra Domes Dessert: skip the buffet at Boma and grab one for $5 at Mara (the soups are also cheaper at Mara)

Fish & chips: Grab a smaller version without the mushy peas at Yorkshire County Fish Shop or Rose & Crown Pub for half the price of what the Rose & Crown Dining Room serves

Honey Chicken: Eat at Yak & Yeti Local Food Café for a small potion at $7 less than it's full size at Yak & Yeti in the park
