If you are headed to St. Johns or if you are wanting to explore the island then you will have to take a ferry to get there. The schedule listed below is as of 2022 and things can change depending on the weather as well as season. Check out the most recent schedule here.
Red Hook, St. Thomas to Cruz Bay, St. Johns
- Monday to Friday departures: 5:30am, 6:30am, 7:30am
- every hour, on the hour from 8:00am - 10:00pm
- Saturday & Sunday departures: 6:30am, 7:30am
- every hour, on the hour from 8:00am - 10:00pm
Cruz Bay to Red Hook
Every day departures: every hour, on the hour from 6:00am - 10:00pm
The trip is usually about 20 minutes and cost U$ 6.00 per person, per way. Children are only $1.
While you may see more ferries than just these ones coming and going those would be the barge companies (Global Marine Inc, Love City Car Ferries Inc, and Inter-Island Boat Services).
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas to Cruz Bay, St. Johns
Every day departures: 10:00am, 1:00pm, 5:30pm
Cruz Bay, St. Johns to Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
Every day departures: 8:45am, 11:15am, 3:45pm
The trip is usually about 45 minutes and cost U$ 12.00 per person, per way. Children are only $3.
If you are if you are taking luggage that cannot fit in your lap then you will be charged $2.50 bag fee per bag on either route and they can charge it if you "carry on" luggage that they deem as being too large as the ferry does not follow airline regulations.
Another option that is not listed here is the ferry that goes over to St. Croix. That island is considered the "Big Island" of the USVI at 22.7 miles long there is a lot of island to explore.
