Bangkok is one of the most fascinating cities to visit thanks to its abundance of significant historical landmarks, incredible restaurants / food stalls, and a wide range of shopping options that cater to the demands of any and all visitors to Thailand. With that in mind, what exactly is it that makes Bangkok so popular for tourists? Well, lets go over some of the basics that the city offers to those that make a trip out to it!
- Traditional Thai massages are offered almost everywhere and at an extremely reasonable price. After a day of exploring the city or a multiple hour long flight, make sure to get at least a foot massage, your body will thank you.
- Shopping is cheap and abundant. For example, if you love Farmer's Markets on the weekend then you will want to visit Chatuchak Market which is basically your local weekend market on crack. There are over 8,000 stalls and booths that sell everything you may or may not realize you need. How it is held every weekend is mind boggling!
- History and architecture are spread throughout the city with one of the oldest temples - Wat Phra Kaew - being build in the 17th century, the Royal Palace being built in the 18th century, and so many more Wats as well as buildings being built throughout the years.
- It's an entertainment hub that is also family friendly. Sure there are the party streets but what most people do not realize is that it is a family friendly location with things like Siam Ocean World being Southeast Asia's largest aquarium and Dusit Zoo which was opened in the 1930's and allows you to do things such as meet elephants or row by crocodiles. There are even kid friendly restaurants like Robot Restaurant where a robot comes is your waiter.
- Eating. From traditional Thai food to Chinese food to Western offerings and so much more, Bangkok is known for not only its restaurants but also its street vendors; everywhere you turn you will find a stall offering up some delicious dish - it is hard to decide what to eat sometimes!
