Popular Rides at DW

by Female Abroad

When it comes to planning your day at Disney, you really need to know what rides are the most popular if you are planning on riding them at least once while you are there. If you can, before you go, make sure to book your free FastPasses (check out my articles on them) as this will also guarantee that you have a spot on the rides. The most popular rides (and the one's that book up the fastest are):

Magic Kingdom

Space Mountain

Blast off on a rip-roaring rocket into the furthest reaches of outer space on this roller-coaster ride in the dark. Always exciting.

Big Thunder Mountain

Race through a haunted gold mine aboard a speeding train on this thrilling coaster-style ride. Good fun.

Enchanted Tiki Room

Tropical birds, Tiki gods and colorful flowers come to life in a swinging South Seas musical extravaganza. For most people this is nostalgia as it was one of the first attractions opened in Disneyland so it had to be put into DW.

Jungle Cruise - reopened in 2021 with movie theming

Chart a course for high adventure on a scenic and comedic boat tour of exotic rivers across Asia, Africa and South America.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Race through the diamond mine from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs on a swaying family coaster ride. Lots of fun!

Disney's Hollywood Studios

Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

Race along the darkened freeways of Los Angeles in a super-stretch limo to the rockin' tunes of Aerosmith. Always fun.

Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular

Cheer as Indy and Marion perform incredible stunts with explosive special effects—and learn the secrets behind the magic. Another favorite and a great break from the heat.

Slinky Dog Dash

Take off on a family-friendly coaster that twists and turns past giant toys and springs across Andy’s oversized backyard! (hard pass from us; it constantly broke down and it would be exciting for a pre-teen but not an adult unless they are scared of roller coasters normally)

Star Tours: The Adventure Continues

Make the jump to hyperspace on a thrilling 3D space flight to legendary destinations from the Star Wars saga. On Disney's website it says that there are multiple story lines however when we were there, they only had one setup.

Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

Hurtle up and down aboard a haunted elevator-style lift. You’re about to enter… The Twilight Zone! FA's favorite ride.

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run - as of Feb 2020 you can now get FastPasses

Fly the Millennium Falcon on a thrilling interactive smuggling mission. It was over quick but you were really focused on pressing your buttons so make sure you are in the pilot seat or else you are missing out on the majority of the ride.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance - no fastpasses

Join the Resistance in an unforgettable battle against the First Order on this exciting ride. Really well done, worth the hassle to get tickets!

Epcot

Frozen Ever After

Voyage to Arendelle aboard an ancient Nordic vessel as you take a musical tour of the wintery world of Frozen. Always a super long line, short and bumpy ride, if you must do it then make sure to get a Fastpass

Mission Space

Blast off on a thrilling simulated NASA-style mission to Mars—or orbit the Earth on a more gentle ride through space. Such a simple but fun ride and usually the lineup is quick.

Test Track

Design a virtual concept car and put it to the test on this thrilling, high-octane attraction. Never done this one as it is always broken down when we go.

Animal Kingdom

Avatar Flight of Passage

Climb atop a winged mountain banshee for a breathtaking 3D flight over Pandora’s otherworldly landscape. Hit or miss, you either love it or you do not. It was really neat as it is a 4D experience.

Dinosaur

Travel back in time on a perilous prehistoric race to rescue a dinosaur—before the meteor strikes. The first time we did it we fell in love with this ride, a few years later when we rode it again however it seems like it has been slowed down?

Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain

Careen through icy Himalayan peaks on a speeding train while avoiding the clutches of the mythic Yeti. A for sure favorite, cannot miss it and make sure you ride it at least once at night (during the fireworks there is no line).

Kali River Rapids

Set out on a thrilling whitewater adventure through a lush jungle in the heart of Asia. You. Will. Get. Wet!

Kilimanjaro Safaris

Set off in an open-air vehicle for a guided tour of an African savanna—and spot live animals roaming free. We've done this in the morning, lunch, and at night. Lunch time is by far the best time to see animals as they are all out for food.

Na’vi River Journey

Take a mystical journey by boat deep into Pandora’s glowing bioluminescent rainforest. Nice for the air conditioning but not worth the line or using a Fastpass on unless you have little ones.
